Pacesetters Game
Oyo State history comes alive through play.
A 52-card historical game and quiz created to commemorate Oyo State’s Golden Jubilee and make its people, places and heritage interactive.

Concept & purpose
Designed with a reason to play.
Pacesetters is a two-in-one educational card game: players can use the illustrated fronts for familiar matching-card play or turn to the reverse sides for a 50-question Oyo State history quiz. The physical product was developed by Dr. Olajide A. Aderinto for Oyo State’s fiftieth-anniversary year in 2026.
The need behind the game
The design challenge was to move local history beyond passive recall and place it in players’ hands as a social, repeatable learning experience.
Learning objective
Build familiarity with Oyo State’s leaders, local-government areas, regions, landmarks, institutions, cultural symbols and historical facts while supporting memory, participation and discussion.
How the experience works
Gameplay at a glance.
Choose one of two modes. In card mode, players match shapes or numbers and use familiar action cards; the first player to empty their hand wins. In quiz mode, players answer questions 1–50 and check the answer on the corresponding card reverse; the highest score wins.
